A Collected History of Millville, PA
Background of the reason for the Blog
Over the years, I have accumulated piles of material from everywhere. Originally, my interest in history put me in contact with several locals that had been on the search for years.
George DeMott was considered, by me, to have a mind cluttered with a mass of local details. He had, by the time I contacted him, given a substantial collection to the Columbia County Historical Society. Much to his horror, he was finding some of it in the Bloomsburg dump. He wanted to get a safe place to transfer his written material with the hope that it would someday be published.
Earl Eves had an Eves genealogy that he provided.
Charlie Eves had written a number of collections that he had shared with his relatives. Some of his was in storage at the Bloomsburg Library. Julie Eves Small, his daughter, sent me several dispatches from her copies of this material.
E. Eugene Eves and I spent several evenings in conversation as did Walter Pursel. Addie Eves of Tipton, IA sent some interesting Eves material.
By the time I had completed the Millville book, the house was piled with all the information that many individuals and organizations had provided. In editing the book, much of this was reduced as space was limited for what could be included in the book. Thus, I had the originals of this assistance.
I hope, on a regular schedule, to copy much of it here.
I have started another blog, https://millville-the-first-200-years.blogspot.com/, that has only the edited chapters of the book. If you have a hard time finding it, it will be copied there for your use. You have permission to copy and print it for your own use only. Please do not sell it. It is free. If you have corrections to the original contents, you can send them to me and I will distribute them there with credit to you.
If you have material about the community that others may be interested in seeing here, you can send it to me. We will do what is necessary ( edit, retype, and post) for you here with your credit. It will be on this blog: https://millvillehistory.blogspot.com/.
